Return & Refund Policy

At Altera Hair, we want you to love your purchase. If you're not completely satisfied, we offer 14 days from the date of delivery to initiate a return or exchange.

Refund Options

Store Credit

Store credit is quick and easy to process and does not incur any restocking fee.

Refund to Original Payment Method

Refunds issued to the original payment method are subject to a 15% restocking fee per item.

Please note:

  • Purchases made using 30% or more store credit toward the total order value are non-refundable.
  • If an item is exchanged, the replacement item received through the exchange is considered a final sale and is not eligible for a future return or refund.

Defective Items

Defective items may be eligible for a full refund, provided the manufacturer confirms the item is defective. In these cases, return shipping will be covered at no cost to you.

To report a defective item, please email hello@alterahair.com with:

  • Photos of the defect
  • A detailed explanation of the issue

Our team will review the information and coordinate with the manufacturer. Please see the Defective Item Process section below for additional details.


Return Process

Returns must be requested and approved before items are sent back.

To begin a return or exchange, please log in to your account or click "Start a Return" under the Returns & Policiessection of our website.

Select the item(s) you wish to return and indicate in the Notes section whether you would prefer:

  • Store Credit
  • Refund to Original Payment Method

If no preference is specified, store credit will automatically be issued, as there are no restocking fees associated with store credit returns.

Once store credit has been issued, it cannot be canceled or converted to a refund. Please be sure to indicate your preference during the return request process.

Approved returns will receive return instructions and a prepaid return shipping label. The cost of the return label will be deducted from your refund or store credit.


Return Requirements

Items must be returned in their original packaging and include all components received with the order, including but not limited to:

  • Original tags
  • Hairnet
  • Tissue paper
  • Product box
  • Any included inserts
  • Original shipping box or a comparable sturdy cardboard box

Items must be carefully repackaged to prevent damage during transit. Returns shipped in soft packaging, envelopes, or bubble mailers may be rejected.

Original tags must remain attached, and all packaging must be returned in resalable condition.


Return Condition

To be eligible for return, items must be:

  • Unused
  • Unaltered
  • Free from odors, stains, makeup, smoke, perfume, or other signs of wear

You may try on your wig indoors to evaluate fit and style; however, it may not be worn outside or for extended periods.

To preserve the integrity of the fibers, please do not:

  • Shake out
  • Brush or comb
  • Style
  • Trim or alter
  • Apply water
  • Apply styling products
  • Apply hairspray, dry shampoo, or any other treatment

Please remember that returned items may be resold as open-box products. We kindly ask that all returns be sent back in the same condition in which you would feel comfortable receiving them.

Any item showing evidence of wear, styling, product use, odors, damage, excessive handling, or alteration will be denied and returned to the customer at the customer's expense.

We incur costs with every return and are happy to provide a flexible return policy to help customers find the perfect wig. However, excessive returns, repeated return patterns, or abuse of our return policy may result in additional fees or restrictions on future purchases and returns.

Refunds and store credit will be issued only after the returned item has been received and successfully passed inspection.


Items Not Eligible for Return

The following items are not eligible for return, exchange, or refund:

  • Final Sale items
  • Open Box items
  • Outlet Sale items
  • Clearance items
  • Hair care products
  • Styling tools
  • Combs, brushes, and accessories
  • Any item that has been cut, trimmed, customized, or altered
  • Any item on which styling products have been used
  • Any item damaged by the customer
  • Any item returned outside the approved return window
